Marry Me Onion Tart
This savory and sweet onion tart will win over your taste buds with its rich flavors and buttery crust.
Ingredients:
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
3 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
Fresh thyme leaves for garnish
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and add sliced onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are caramelized, about 20 minutes.
3. Season onions with salt and pepper, then stir in balsamic vinegar and brown sugar. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until flavors meld.
4. Roll out puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet. Spread caramelized onions evenly over the pastry, leaving a border around the edges.
5. Sprinkle shredded Gruyere cheese on top of the onions.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
7. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves before serving.
